NERO South Carolina

A few reminders for this event -

We are at King's Mountain State Park - There are two Camps next to each other, Camp Cherokee and Camp York. We are at Camp Cherokee. For those who have never been here before be aware that there is also a "King's Mountain National Military Park". Those coming from I-85 will go all the way through the military park before entering the State Park. The easiest directions are -

From I-85

Take Exit 2 in North Carolina. Head east(right if you are traveling north).

After about five miles or so after you have crossed into South Carolina you will enter the State Park. The road to the camps is on the right. You will pass the "Living History Farm" on your left and the split to the two camps is just ahead.

GATE CODES: There two gates that may be closed and locked if you arrive after 9 pm. The first is before the "Living History Farm". It will be locked after 9pm .

First Gate Code = 2754

Second gate is at the entrance to Camp Cherokee. It should remain unlocked and open through the night, but just in case.

Second Gate Code = 1946

If you arrive late and the gate is locked, please close and lock it behind you when you enter.

December 11-13 - Paris Mountain

It is with a sad heart that we announce, after five seasons, that we will be closing our doors. Our license with NERO International will expire in March 2010 and we will not be renewing it. This is due to a number of reasons; including the current state of the economy, our own personal lives and plans, and having just found out that our primary site - Paris Mountain State Park - will be closed for the entire year for renovations. We cannot continue to run the level of game that you have come to expect within the constraints of our current budget and the amount of players that we receive.

With that said, we want to thank all of the people that have helped make this chapter great over the years. Everyone who has helped by volunteering their time and effort as well as those that have donated the needed props and supplies that kept the game running. We want to especially thank all those who have chosen to play our game, without your support we could have never had the success we did in the early years.  It is you that made the game great and without you we would have had nothing.

We are in the process of finding interested parties who wish to operate a game and would be willing to purchase our NERO license. We would be able to offer someone a much better deal than they could get were the license to lapse. If there is anyone interested please do not hesitate to contact us.

We will be running a few more events before we shut down, including the upcoming event at Paris Mountain. We are in the process of scheduling an event in late November or early December as well as our campaign closer in late January or early February. We will have those dates posted soon.  We encourage everyone who has ever enjoyed playing our game to attend these final events. We plan on going out with a bang and have some of our best events ever planned for these last few. We hope to get the chance to see all of our players from throughout the years at these last few special events.

Just as an announcement -

NERO South Carolina (Sarah and myself) will be going to Nashville to participate in a NERO Symposium. This will be the first symposium in the five years that we have owned NERO SC.

We would like to open up a discussion to our players to bring to our attention anything they think should be addressed.

We will NOT be addressing rules issues, however will be discussing how new rules and clarifications are dealt with on a national and chapter level. And how new rules and playtests will be approved and put into use.

We will mostly be discussing business related issues and marketing, and are open to suggestions from our players that they feel would make NERO better in the long and short term.

Please keep your posts civil and constructive.

 This event will be run very differently from the normal events we run. We hate to ruin any surprise but in order to prepare you for the event we have to give away a few secrets.

     You will be infiltrating the port town of Tempest's Folly in order to determine the level of corruption that has run rampant throughout the town. In order to keep yourselves safe and prevent kidnappings or murders you will all be concealing your identities, and dressing up as pirates.
     
     We will be attempting to immerse you in a real pirate town. We are looking for as many NPCs as we can get for this event in order to properly represent a pirate town. We will have many great roles available to those that wish to NPC. We will be offering special incentives to those that NPC for us at this event including both event blankets and goblin, goodie bags with extra special nifties and extra make your own Magic Item draws of varying effects and expirations. We are encouraging players who feel that their characters do not fit into one part of the event to NPC half and PC the other. This will still get you full event credit, get you entered into the Magic Item draws, and only cost you $25.

     We encourage people to submit BGAs if they wish to do any pre-event reconnaissance.  Also, if there are people who wish to NPC half or all of the event, please let us know soon so that we may have time to prepare the perfect roles for you to play.  Or if you have your own idea for a role let us know and we will work with you to develop it.
